Ontario Expands Public Funding for Fertility Treatments
March 16, 2026
The Ontario government announces expanded coverage for IVF and fertility preservation services starting April 2026.
In a significant development for fertility care access in Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Health has announced an expansion of public funding for fertility treatments, set to take effect in April 2026.
What's Changing
The expanded program includes:
- Coverage for up to three IVF cycles (up from one)
- Fertility preservation for patients facing medical treatments that may affect fertility
- Expanded eligibility criteria for same-sex couples and single individuals
- Coverage for genetic testing (PGT-M) for patients with hereditary conditions
CFAS has been actively advocating for improved access to fertility care across Canada. We applaud the Ontario government's commitment to supporting individuals and families on their fertility journey.
Resources for Clinics
CFAS will be hosting a webinar for member clinics on March 15, 2026, to discuss implementation of the new funding guidelines. Registration details will be sent to member clinics via email.
